Gardeners chatting yesterday more than most days. A yellow mask. A blue. A cherry blossom and Robin covered one. Kombucha. Peppers. Birds and onions.
“Now, about sourdough starters…” she said.
“Would you like some?” I offered.
She pointed to her plot, we coordinated a time (ish.) I fed my starter and put hers into a washed old peanut butter jar.
The dew this morning is so thick it reaches to the sky. I hope she finds the jar with the note still dry enough to read.
Sourdough is my 2019 bane. Fermented foods were the only New Years resolutions I had, sauerkraut checked. One would think that sourdough would take the lead because … BAKED BREAD SMELL. Maybe during the COVID break. Jealous of your poppy seeds. Love them.
I made a lot of bad sour dough and quit trying. A woman on social media who makes local grain sprouted and fresh milled into sour dough convinced me to try again with purchase started and plain white flour. But no one in my house liked it that can eat bread (kids) and those who loved it, can’t eat bread without unwanted results (parents.) I encourage you to try again!
Yes they do. The pods will either be bent at the stem and dump the seeds, or something similar. I only collect to give some away and to prevent a clump of seedlings which are harder to separate. I do transplant seedlings, usually through January/February and they transplant well.
I didn’t know it was you when I asked 🙂 I saved some to move to a new spot. I’ve yet to successfully grow my own. I only see the naturalized ones and neighbors’.
My mask is an extravagant design with an owl. I try to tie it on where they eyes are just below my nose. Just because.
Yes, poppies. I’ve gathered my seeds; they’re in two paper bags, and third to a neighbor. A few more will need harvesting in a day or so. On to new blooms.
That mask sounds fun!
If you leave your seeds on the flowers do they sprout on their own where you are?
Oops. This is Tina. Steven is my husband. I forget that if I don’t go to WordPress through my blog or in Chrome, that he’s the one who comments. Well, we have been married a long time…:)
Honestly, I’m just messing this up, right and left. Or rather, up and down. Sigh. I should get off the computer before I hurt myself or someone else.
😆 all good
Haven’t yet seen dew like that, but now that I think about it, I can imagine.
I hadn’t seen anything like it.
