Ant trap attempt.

DH found a post on Lifehacker about creating a poison-free ant trap.

I’m up to three fire ant piles in and around the beds in the community garden. I’ve taken to wearing my wellies in the 100 degree heat just to keep from being bit.

Here’s my attempt, I’ll let you know how it goes…

I’m very curious to see how that works! Can you do an “ant count” at the end of the day? To see how many critters you captured? The apple cider vinegar trap (with a few drops of dish soap) works great for fruit flies. They fly in, but they don’t fly out. 🙂

I’ve struggled with the ratio on the fruit fly trap. Is it straight vinegar with a few drops of dish soap? Or is it watered down a smidge?

Apple cider vinegar with a few drops of dish soap. I used a wide-mouth Pyrex container and filled to 1″ deep. We could actually watch them land, drown and sink. Hm. Fly spectating — it’s what we’re reduced to when it’s hot outside. LOL

Thanks, I’ll give it a try!

  2. Good luck, Sweetie…Those ants will inherit the earth, I swear.
