The okra is done. The pumpkin leaves have wilted. Hopefully they have the roots to ripen their fruit. I need to uncover the lettuce and take the bucket hats of the peppers.

I thought they are supposed to be in a pod. (See? I got the joke in the title.) But seriously,
I saw a poem here along with the gardner’s report and the funny picture:
AFTER THE FROST
The okra is done.
The pumpkin leaves have wilted.
Hopefully they have the roots
to ripen their fruit.
I need to uncover the lettuce
and take the bucket hats off
of the peppers
While the peas wait
in their tent .
. . . .
P.S. I think the compact statements and word pictures together can tell a larger story because of the white space in between. Still, i wouldn’t change a thing in this post.
🙂
The peas made it. The tomatoes left uncovered, did not. Their green globes left to shine through drying dark mush. The lettuce flattened, but springy, will return. Strawberries teasing a late winter treat.
